Structural Engineer

KEM Engineers, Inc. / Bessolo Design Group, an engineering/architecture/interior design company based in St. Petersburg, FL is an award winning and highly rated Fast 50 Company by Tampa Bay Business Journal that is seeking an experienced full time licensed Structural Engineer.

Structural Engineer candidates should be able to work on large Senior Living/ILF/ALF/SNF, Surgery Centers and Multifamily High-rise, both new construction and renovation. Responsibilities include management of assigned projects, assuring the total quality of all the engineering efforts of the project in meeting the client’s expectations within the project budget and schedule. The Structural Engineer is responsible for the complete performance of the team assigned to each project according to Bessolo/KEM design standards, practices and policies.

Structural Engineer - Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience In:

·        Florida Licensed Professional Engineer – Required

·        Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering

·        5 years minimum experience in AE environment in Structural design

·        Proven track record of designing the most appropriate structural systems within the clients, budget and time limitations coupled with the ability to work successfully in a multi-disciplined team environment on multiple projects.

·        Analysis and design of new building structures as well as renovations of existing buildings.

·        Calculations and computer modeling for Timber, Concrete, Masonry and Steel structures.

·        Actively participate in project meetings during design and construction activities to represent the Company and the preparation of graphic and written construction documents.

·        Lead or self-direct site visits to evaluate various facility types during assessment of the existing structure. Ability to properly assess and take appropriate action to identify and solve problems during design or in the field during construction. Review shop drawings and respond to Request For Information (RFI).

·        Good knowledge of building codes and design practices.

·        Experience in Commercial, Senior Living/ILF/ALF, Multifamily & High-rise; New Construction and Renovation.

·        Ability to manage their projects through proper prioritization and scheduling of tasks.

·        Experience with Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) on healthcare design.

·        Coordinate with Architecture, Electrical and Mechanical drawings and attend coordination meetings. Work well in a team-oriented environment. Strong oral and written communication skills.

Software Knowledge and Experience

·        Autodesk – AutoCAD 2021

·        Autodesk Revit 2021 as it pertains to Structural Framing and Details

·        EnerCalc (SEL)

·        RISA 3D, RISA Floor Adapt

·        BLUEBEAM REVU

·        Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
