Position Summary:
The Community Behavioral Health Engagement Specialist is a dynamic and community-facing role responsible for recruiting clients for behavioral health services, building strong referral pipelines, and maintaining a small caseload to support service engagement. This role combines outreach, partnership development, resource creation, and direct client support to improve access to care and promote behavioral health within the community.
The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder with excellent communication skills, experience working with diverse populations, and the ability to manage both community engagement efforts and a limited caseload.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Outreach & Recruitment
- Identify and recruit eligible clients from schools, shelters, clinics, and community-based organizations.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, social service agencies, and faith-based organizations.
- Represent the organization at community events, school functions, and resource fairs to raise awareness of behavioral health services.
- Deliver engaging presentations and outreach sessions to promote programs and encourage referrals.
Resource Creation & Communication
- Develop and maintain clear, culturally competent resource materials (e.g., brochures, FAQs, service guides) to support client understanding and engagement.
- Ensure all materials reflect current program offerings and are accessible to various audiences, including translated versions as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams to continuously improve outreach content and messaging.
Referral Coordination & Pipeline Development
- Maintain active relationships with referral sources and track incoming referrals.
- Build and manage a referral system to streamline access to services and ensure timely follow-up.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on outreach trends, partner engagement, and referral outcomes.
Direct Client Support
- Maintain a small caseload of clients to support their engagement and retention in services.
- Assist clients with navigating the intake process, completing documentation, and connecting with internal services.
- Conduct follow-ups and provide short-term case support to ensure successful service initiation.
Administrative & Compliance
- Track all outreach efforts, partnership activity, and client engagement in designated systems.
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
- Support data collection and reporting on outreach impact and referral conversion rates.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of experience in community outreach, client engagement, or behavioral health services.
- Experience working with youth, families, or underserved communities.
- Strong public speaking, relationship-building, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with behavioral health systems, school systems, and local community resources.
- Demonstrated ability to create client-facing materials and explain services clearly.
- Basic case management experience preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Bilingual (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
