The financial controller position entails handling all company financial transactions, including customer invoicing and processing payments, financial data entry, managing company payables & receivables, as well as providing timely detailed reports to leadership. This position also performs general human resources and office duties, such as employee onboarding, updating team benefits, monitoring timesheets & entering payroll, answering phone calls & emails, etc. The financial controller must be both empathetic yet firm, enjoy communicating with clients and team members, and must be highly organized and efficient, as well as have bookkeeping experience.
**Duties:**
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures
- Prepare financial reports, budgets, and statements
- Conduct financial analysis to guide decision-making
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
- Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process
**Skills:**
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles
- Proficiency in financial concepts and practices
- Experience with governmental accounting standards
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage and Xero
- Excellent budgeting skills
- Ability to perform account reconciliations accurately
