IT Category Manager - Strategic Sourcing Procurement

The IT Category Manager will join the team responsible for development of category and sourcing strategies, sourcing execution, negotiations, and contracting activities across multiple categories within digital & IT-related areas of spend. This is a high-impact position, with responsibility to commercially manage and strategically source products and/or services within multiple highly complex categories. This position will provide consistent exposure to Best Buy executives, large strategic suppliers, and highly complex agreements. The right candidate will have an opportunity to make an immediate impact with noticeable results. The Best Buy Procurement organization is undergoing a significant transformation to become a strategic value generating business enabler.
Exact categories under the responsibility of this role will be determined upon identification of the right candidate and will be a mix of the following: software, hardware, SaaS, and maintenance & support.

This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

Key Responsibilities

• Development of category and sourcing strategies, sourcing execution, negotiations, and contracting activities across multiple categories within digital & IT-related areas of spend
• Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with business stakeholders understanding and applying business objectives to category strategies
• Optimize the total cost of ownership and increase the total value derived from our digital and technology investments for non-merchandise goods and services acquired by Best Buy
• Interact with all levels of the organization, cross functionally partnering with and influencing business leaders across the Best Buy Enterprise
• Leading negotiations of $0-$25 million technology contracts
• Problem solve and search for answers using internal and external network/sources with ability to be agile when faced with setbacks and roadblocks

Basic Requirements

• 4 years of experience in strategic sourcing or commensurate experience in related functions, including direct experience with supplier relationship development and contract negotiations
• 2 years of experience collaborating with and influencing stakeholders and business partners
• Strong financial, analytical, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills contributing to demonstrated business acumen
• Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) across all levels of an organization, including the C-Suite
• Desire to raise the bar and continuously enhance the team's standards and abilities
• Demonstrated ability to self-start, determining work steps based upon management direction

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or supply chain
• 5 years of experience working within a matrix fortune 200 organization
• 3 years of experience with retail / in-store technology
• 3 years of experience with technology contract negotiations
• Understanding of how license agreements are structured, including complex enterprise license agreements that cover many products across the enterprise
• Ability to "talk tech" - articulate what the technology you are sourcing does and how it fits into the architecture of a large enterprise
