Position Summary:
The Activities Aide is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating a program of therapeutic recreational activities for residents. The Aide shall establish, promote, and support programs fostering enjoyment and the basic concepts of wellness, to maintain residents at their maximum potential level of functioning. The program shall maintain a balance of program activities that facilitate physical and mental stimulation, including socialization, education, fitness, creative and performing arts, and crafts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
- Plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate programs of therapeutic recreational activities (including evening and weekend activities) for residents. Ensure programming meets minimum requirements under regulations governing relevant Senior Living communities.
- Consults with other departments in implementing appropriate activities relating to the physical, emotional and social needs of residents.
- Assist in coordinating transportation and accompany residents on outings as scheduled.
- Develop and post a monthly schedule of member activities by the first day of the month. Maintain a record of activities for twelve calendar months at all times. Make records available to regulatory agencies upon request.
- Assist with the volunteer program to meet the program needs of the residents.
- Monitor and maintain budgetary records for department, as assigned.
- Coordinate with other staff members relating to scheduling of events and use of facilities.
- Assist in preparation of monthly Community newsletter. Assist with planning, organizing, and functioning of various member committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Attend in‐service classes and staff meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The position falls under the direct supervision of the Program. The position may occasionally supervise or direct volunteers.
Qualifications:

Educational Requirements and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Senior living experience, preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively in English. Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives. Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion. Ability to perform duties with consideration for residents’ rights at all times and demonstrate integrity and discretion in the care of residents and in handling their health information. Leadership and motivational skills.
