Job Summary
We're looking for talented veterinarians who can help us achieve our goal. As a Staff Veterinarian, you'll work as part of a team to provide veterinary care across various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality veterinary care for program animals
- Uphold medical standards of care
- Maintain knowledge of shelter medicine, including common infectious diseases and conditions
- Ensure a safe and effective clinic environment
- Educate and mentor veterinary students, technicians, assistants, and volunteers
Work Environment
You'll work in a variety of settings, including:
- Shelter Medicine: Helping save animals from under-resourced shelters
- Exotics: Caring for a wide range of species, including parrots, bunnies, and wildlife
- Large Animals: Providing care for horses, goats, pigs, and other equines
- Urgent Care and General Practice: Responding to routine and urgent needs of animals in our care
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD)
- Valid state veterinary license
- Ability to work with a variety of species, including those with health and behavioral concerns
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive situations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and shelter software/animal management software
Working Conditions
This role involves:
- Performing repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Exposure to dogs, cats, and other animals of all sizes and temperaments
