Commercial General Service Technician
General Description:
Repair and replace commercial and large equipment tires, perform fleet checks, and perform minor service and repairs on commercial customer vehicles.
Duties Include:
· Remove, install, rotate, balance, and perform flat repairs on commercial and large equipment tires (in shop or at customer location).
· Safely separate and reassemble tires onto wheels, using specialized equipment
· Inspect casings for defects.
· Locate and seal tire punctures (patch and plug).
· Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding or sandblasting.
· Operate heavy-duty service trucks and associated tools.
· Remove, install, rotate, and balance commercial tires both in the shop and at fleet location.
· Evaluate tire conditions to determine if repair or replacement is needed.
· Provide fleet inspections at the customer’s lot to make tire recommendations to keep their fleet running in optimal condition.
· Perform tire fleet service on-site to manage fleet tire specs.
· Maintain Company Vehicles to D.O.T. standard.
· Perform Emergency Road Service to repair/replace blown tires.
· Prepare paperwork on-site detailing what services were performed and submit to Sales.
· Effectively communicate fleet needs with Service and Sales.
· Prepare retreads (discuss tread with customer, prepare work order, put in staging area, load on truck).
· Unload retreads (unload from truck and stack in warehouse area).
- Perform fleet inspections to assess tire needs and make recommendations to fleets as needed.
:
· Raise and lower vehicles safely, with hydraulic or floor jacks.
· Safely operate all shop machinery, including but not limited to safety cage, spreader, balancer, floor jacks or lifts, air powered tools, torque wrench and/or torque sticks.
· Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment.
Commercial Tire Technician Requirements:
· Must perform duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
· Must have a valid driver’s license; driving record must meet company’s insurance requirements.
· Position requires continuous standing, bending, lifting and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· The ability to work in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment.
· Team- Player: Works well as a member of a group.
· Detail Oriented: Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well.
· Must pass DOT medical certificate if applicable.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
· Frequent squatting, bending, and twisting

· Read ticket and perform work listed; write confirmation and recommendation
· Environment: Work in an environment that is not climate controlled. Temperatures range from extremely hot to extremely cold, depending on the season.

· Sense of sound (Alarms, horns and motorized equipment)
· PPE: Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Safety Glasses, gloves, safety harnesses, steel reinforced footwear)
