Definition and Primary Objective:

Supervises Early Childhood Day Treatment Program.  Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing mental health treatment within best practices for the Mental Health needs of young children. Ensures developmentally and clinically appropriate care within the guidelines of licensure and regulations for day treatment and related mental health services. Provides supervision and oversight for all clinical interventions and therapeutic care and develops/oversees Individualized Treatment Plans and other clinical documentation accordingly.  Supports and trains ECDT staff about agency and program practices and pertinent clinical/mental health information. Collaborates with all those involved with the client, internal and external to the agency for optimum care of each child.  Ensures the needs of each child are met within the context of family and culture.

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Supervision

  • Provides administrative and clinical supervision and direction for Therapeutic Group Leaders and for assigned student interns and others assigned.
  • Effectively leads and guides the treatment team to implement individual, group, and program goals. Seeks and lends help appropriately. 
  • Maintains consistent and constructive communication with all members of the treatment team internal and external to the agency.   Establishes positive and productive relationships with families and staff.          
  • Provides individual and group supervision as required.  
  • Assures agency compliance to standards of care within community and regulatory guidelines as defined by accrediting entities.  
  • Familiarizes and trains Early Childhood Program staff as needed for clinical competence and agency compliance to standards of care within the community and regulatory guidelines related to clinical practice.

 

Internal and External Collaboration

  • Consults and collaborates internally with Therapeutic Group Leaders, Operational Support and Therapeutic Support Specialists, Outpatient therapists, Care Coordinators, and program staff involved in the treatment or education of children in the Early Childhood Day Treatment Program.  Additionally collaborates with family and external providers of education, health care, child welfare, childcare or special needs.
  • Attends team meetings, agency functions, and required trainings. Attends additional or outside training, and agency or professional seminars and conferences to increase professional knowledge and skills. 
  • Participates in agency/community committees as delegated.  

 

Administration

  • Assumes responsibility for the overall functioning of the Early Childhood Day Treatment Program. Develops treatment plans and formulates interventions and objectives to meet a young child’s needs within best practice and program guidelines
  • Implements individual treatment plans and utilizes age appropriate group interventions to address individual and group needs according to the philosophy of the program.          
  • Assures agency compliance to standards of care within community and regulatory guidelines as defined by accrediting entities.   
  • Trains Early Childhood Program staff as needed for clinical competence and agency compliance to standards of care within the community and regulatory guidelines related to clinical practice. 
  • Completes all required statistical reporting data and documentation, including but not limited to, service tickets, daily and weekly progress notes, Individual Service Plans, discharge summaries, and other reports as required.  

 

Quality Assurance and Effectiveness

  • Helps assess, plan, and evaluate individual and programmatic outcomes through the use of assessment or outcome tools.
  • Contributes to program development and problem solving activities, sharing own ideas, perceptions and opinions.
  • Functions as a positive role model and team leader to formulate interventions that aid and support children during times of mood dysregulation.  Responsible for providing Teaching Family intervention services. 
  • Continues developing competence in the Teaching Family Model and provides conceptual feedback to assist staff with developing competence in the application of the Teaching Family Model concepts.  
  • Ensures that conceptual feedback and motivational system reviews occur as defined by the Program Manager.          Consistently models the attitudes, behaviors, and intervention skills necessary for successful work with clients.
  • Participates in process improvement activities as identified

 

Direct Client Service

  • Provides direct service as needed to clients in the program including assessment, BHC, and/or Care Coordination services. 
  • Assists or conducts parent meetings or treatment team meetings as necessary.
  • Provides assistance in crisis management and stabilization as needed.          

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Monitors attendance patterns and identifies strategies to maximize attendance and address client tardiness.
  • Assists in the development of the annual program budget and ensures budget targets are met.
  • Meets or exceeds monthly and year to date productivity requirements (UR) individually and for the program/groups supervised
  • Stays abreast of changing reimbursement and billing codes and monitors implications accordingly.

 

Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Education, Experience and Other Skill Requirements:

This position requires a Master’s degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university. Three years of post-graduate experience, an LISW-S or LPCC-S (or currently working on a supervisory designation), and supervisory experience. Must possess minimum technical skills including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications.

 

Work Environment:

Exposed to a combination of office, school and mental health treatment environments.  Exposed to children with behavior problems.  May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive.  May be exposed to blood or vomit and bodily fluids.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required toRegularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 pounds.  Must be capable of sustained exertion and be able to participate in the physical restraint techniques and exercises required to ensure safety of clients at all times.

Salary : $48,000 - $62,000
