School-Age Resource Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 Location: Clifton Area Neighborhood Schools (CANS)

Definition and Primary Objective: The Resource Coordinator supports the Cincinnati Public Schools district-wide community learning center initiative of creating schools as centers of community. In this role, the Resource Coordinator develops and promotes the wisest use of community resources in response to student, family, and community needs. In support of school leadership, the Resource Coordinator will initiate, facilitate, and maintain programs and strategies that are aligned with the school’s One Plan, as well as youth and community development goals. By enhancing community and individual assets, meeting critical human service needs, and promoting long-term community solutions the Resource Coordinator promotes optimal impact on the school and its community.

Minimum Education, Experience and Other Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum of an Associates degree in related field from an accredited college or university; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will accept education and work experience that meets requirements for Career Pathways Level (CPL) 4 as outlined by Ohio’s Early Childhood Professional Development Network
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in human services field required, working in a school environment preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work with a diverse population and build productive relationships.
  • Must be flexible in work schedule and have strong communication, networking and organizational skills.
  • Must possess minimum technical skills including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good organization/planning, team building, verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

Direct Client Service and Quality Effectiveness

  1. Coordinates all community resources serving school as partners in the Community Learning Center (CLC). 
  2. Participates as key leader in the school needs assessment process to identify gaps in service for students, family, and community members in order to establish goals for the Community Learning Center. 
  3. Develops and carries out action plan that ensures achievement of Community Learning Center Goals.
  4. Facilitates monthly partnership meetings to ensure ongoing synergistic, coordinated, and integrated programming working seamlessly with the school staff. 
  5. Provides oversight and coordination of programming during and beyond the school day for students, families and the community during extended daily hours and summer school.    
  6. Serves as key information contact for non-school day schedule; communicates and coordinates full slate of activities; acts as key community contact person for school and their assigned school staff.
  7. Plans and facilitates parent groups, workshops/field trips. 
  8. Acts as a resource for families and connects to community resources. Follows-up on referrals. 
  9. Collaborates with supervisor and the Local School Decision Making Committee (LSDMC) on monitoring effectiveness of partnerships in measurement or progress against CLC goals. 

 

Administration and Fiscal Responsibility

  1. Ensures accurate and timely completion of all required documentation and maintains all records in accordance with evidence-based guidelines, to include entering information into spreadsheets or data base systems. 
  2. Supports completion and collection of evaluation measures in adherence to best practice and agency standards. Assists with completion of program reports as assigned. 
  3. Manages program supplies and adheres to budget requirements. 
  4. Documents effectiveness of partnerships and track progress towards CLC goals.  
  5. Documents all creative outreach efforts with partners, families and the community.
  6. Complies with all regulations concerning client confidentiality in all settings. 
  7. Participates in setting programmatic direction and policy in collaboration with supervisor and in line with industry standards and regulatory guidelines. 

 

Internal and External Collaboration

  1. Always represents the agency within the community with professionalism, maintains a strong customer service and public relations perspective. 
  2. Facilitates communication and relationship-building with community building partners, key stakeholders, and volunteers, including participation in community groups and/or committees such as Community Council.
  3. Establishes positive relationships and communicates with school, partners, and the community. 
  4. Integrates and aligns resources to Community Learning Center goals through engaging the community in partnerships that promote long-term solutions and meet critical needs.
  5. Actively collaborates with other agency programs to ensure Community Learning Center needs are being met and to benchmark and share resources and expertise. 
  6. Participates in outreach or community events to assist with identifying new partnership and achieving CLC goals. 
  7. Actively participates in agency or department work groups as assigned.
  8. Has knowledge of and appropriately accesses support areas to get the job done as needed.

 

Work Environment: Located within a Cincinnati Public School Building. Work duties are performed in office, school, and neighborhood environments, which may include unfamiliar areas of town. Typical schedule is 40 hours per week on an academic calendar (August – June) with reduction to 20 hours per week during summer break. Position may require additional hours periodically, including evening and weekends depending on business needs. May be exposed to children with behavior problems, which could include shouting and children/families who may be verbally and physically aggressive.  May be exposed to blood or vomit and bodily fluids and unclean environments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Sit, stand, walk, bend and lift objects of up to 50 pounds
  • Operate a motor vehicle safely in changing weather conditions required.

  • Analyze sourcing data, benefits, and other reports and make recommendations and/or problem solve
