Hybrid Mechanic

Description

PURPOSE: 

Effectively maintain the fleet of equipment and keep fleet in the best and safest operating condition. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Repairs and maintains diesel engines and equipment used to power machines, such as: 
• Trucks and buses 
• Electrical generators 
• Construction machinery 
• Small engine equipment (generators, roof cutters, roof warriors) 
• Small equipment (heat welders, induction welders, power hand tools) 
• Diagnoses trouble disassembles engine and examines parts for defects and excessive wear. 
• Reconditions and replaces parts such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and bushings using hand tools and precision measuring instruments. 
• Complete all repairs with the highest safety, quality, and productivity standards.  
• Stand behind your work; follow the green tag process and sign your name in ink for every repair you complete. 
• May weld and cut parts using arc-welding and flame cutting equipment. 
• May be designated according to type of diesel engine or equipment repaired as Diesel-Engine Mechanic, Automobile; Diesel-Engine Mechanic, Bus; Diesel-Engine Mechanic, Truck; Diesel-Mechanic, Construction; Diesel Mechanic. 
• Effectively communicate with Fleet and Mechanic Shop Manager and other company employees to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.  
• Provide exceptional customer service to all employees requesting equipment and assistance. 
• Maintain a safe/clean working environment. 
• Own personal hand tools required to complete your job. 
• Abide by all EPA, safety, and other applicable regulations. Willing and able to teach others and help them learn how to improve their mechanical skills. 
• Load and unload material and equipment as required.  
• Safely use a forklift and other equipment. 
• Ability and willingness to complete all duties as assigned and meet the physical requirements of the position. 
• Effectively use technology (email, text message, calendars) to complete tasks and duties as assigned. 
• Clear, concise communication between your team and all project stakeholders using phone, email, text, or other means as required.  
• Willing and able to work flexible shifts and overtime as required.  
• Be an ideal team player and provide the BEST service possible to whomever you are serving and working with. 
• Utilize ManagerPlus and other software/technology as assigned to perform your job functions.

• Accomplish duties and tasks within the time frame assigned. 
• Repair and maintain all equipment with the highest quality standards. Zero in-field due to mechanic error. 
• Perform maintenance and repair on equipment as assigned with minimum re-work required. 
• Meet deadlines to get equipment service ready. 
• Maximize the lifespan of the equipment.

Requirements

 SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

• High school diploma or equivalent required. 
• Degrees and/or certifications for automotive repair, small engine repair, diesel engine repair or related courses of study or ability to demonstrate skills/techniques/experience to get the job done required.  
• Ability to work in a shop environment and demonstrate how to use the necessary tools and equipment safely to get the job done required. 
• More than 3 years’ experience repairing and maintaining small engines and other powered equipment required. 
• Ability to safely move material over 50lbs and to work with other employees for team lifts.  
• Ability to safely use a forklift; prior forklift certification preferred. 
• Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving history to operate company vehicles as required. CDL with demonstrable experience with roll-offs, high lifts, etc. preferred. 
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. 
• Demonstrable experience using technology (cell phone, text messaging and email). 
• Sense of urgency: all tasks must be completed with a high priority/sense of urgency while you personally ensure the highest safety, quality, and productivity.  
• Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred.
