What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Laborer position at Best Sand & Gravel?
Best Sand & Gravel is currently seeking hardworking individuals for our skilled earthwork laborer position.
Earthwork Laborers are responsible for assisting the Earthwork Operators in moving dirt or rock by cleaning and preparing job sites, reading and checking grade, operating hand and power tools, among other duties.
Essential Duties
- Cleaning and preparing a job site including the removal of debris, garbage and trees
- Loading and unloading work materials.
- Able to operate a variety of tools and machines such as blowtorches, jackhammers, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws
- Can care for tools used on construction sites and and keep them in safe and clean working order.
- Is able to safely operate equipment and vehicles.
- Able to understand surveying principles and read stakes.
- Can understand and carry out instructions, maintain records and maintain positive working relationships.
- Can perform any other routine duties associated with the job.
- Operate and care for construction equipment and machines.
- Help equipment operator, and other skilled labor when necessary.
- Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards.
- Load or unload construction materials.
- Remove, fill, or compact earth.
- Follow instructions from supervisors.
- Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary.
- Perform site clean-up.
Job Type: Full-time
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
