Position Overview:
Best Western Plus CottonTree Inn is seeking a skilled Hotel Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our property. As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead the maintenance team to ensure all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, common areas, and external spaces, are in excellent working condition. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise and direct the maintenance team to ensure the timely and efficient completion of all maintenance tasks.
- Assign duties and provide guidance to maintenance technicians, ensuring they follow hotel standards and safety protocols.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and ensure the team is properly equipped and motivated to perform at their best.
- Preventive Maintenance & Inspections:
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure the hotel’s systems and equipment remain in optimal working order.
- Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities (guest rooms, common areas, equipment, etc.) to identify issues or potential maintenance needs.
- Schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks to minimize disruption to guests and hotel operations.
- Repairs & Troubleshooting:
- Oversee the repair of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ensure that repairs are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and coordinate with external vendors when necessary.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure the hotel complies with all safety regulations, local codes, and industry standards (e.g., fire safety, OSHA).
- Maintain and ensure proper operation of emergency systems (fire alarms, emergency lighting, etc.).
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure that all staff members are properly trained on safety procedures.
- Budget & Inventory Management:
- Assist in the preparation and management of the maintenance budget.
- Oversee the ordering and maintenance of supplies and equipment needed for day-to-day operations.
- Track inventory of maintenance materials and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., housekeeping, front desk) to ensure smooth operations and a seamless guest experience.
- Communicate maintenance schedules and disruptions with other hotel departments to ensure minimal guest impact.
- Report to the Hotel Manager on maintenance issues, progress, and completed tasks.
- Guest Relations:
- Address guest complaints or concerns regarding maintenance issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is done with guest comfort in mind, minimizing disturbances whenever possible.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or degree in facilities management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in hotel or facility maintenance, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) and troubleshooting skills.
- Previous experience in managing a team, with the ability to lead, train, and motivate others.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of local safety codes and regulations, including fire and health safety standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including bending, climbing, and walking for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
