Hotel Housekeeper

Best Western Watertown is looking for additional housekeeping team members to join our awesome BW Watertown Family! Housekeeping is what gives hotels the ‘wow’ factor. It’s the moment that guests walk into the hotel and are impressed, then enter their bedrooms and think ‘wow, this looks wonderful’. To deliver a great guest experience – a Room Attendant will clean and service guest rooms so everything is spotless and prepared for guests.

Please note our housekeepers are asked to complete 8-12 guestrooms in a 6-8 hour shift working in teams with a total of 16-24 rooms. Our staff, management, and ownership work together to complete rooms.

  • clean guest rooms
  • dust and polish furniture and fittings
  • empty and clean trash containers
  • dispose of trash in a sanitary manner
  • clean sinks, mirrors, tubs, toilets and showers
  • wipe down glass surfaces
  • make up beds and change dirty linens with clean items
  • tidy up rooms
  • restock room supplies such as drinking glasses, soaps, shampoos, writing supplies, etc
  • inspect and turn mattresses regularly
  • monitor guest laundry bags
  • replace laundry bags and slips
  • check all appliances in rooms are in working order
  • realign furniture and amenities according to prescribed layout
  • wash windows as scheduled
  • clean metal fixtures and fittings
  • store all dirty laundry in line with company policy
  • organize work schedule from the room status list, arrivals and departures
  • distribute linen, towels and room supplies using wheeled carts or by hand
  • respond to guest queries and requests
  • respond to calls for housekeeping problems such as spills, broken glasses
  • deliver any requested housekeeping items to guest rooms
  • organize and restock cart at the end of the shift
  • ensure confidentiality and security of guest rooms
  • follow all company safety and security procedures
  • report any maintenance issues or safety hazards
  • observe and report damage of hotel property
  • monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements

Knowledge and Experience

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques and methods
  • knowledge of cleaning sensitive materials
  • working knowledge of operating cleaning equipment
  • physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend
  • ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs)
  • Housekeeping/cleaning experience recommended

Duties:
- Clean and maintain guest rooms, common areas, and other designated areas of the hotel
- Perform general housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and changing linens
- Ensure all rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and amenities
- Report any maintenance issues or damages to the appropriate department
- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Provide excellent customer service to guests and address any concerns or requests promptly

Skills:
- Experience in housekeeping management or similar role preferred
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment
- Ability to perform custodial tasks efficiently and effectively
- Familiarity with hotel industry standards and practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
