Position: QC/QA Inspector II ENTRY LEVEL
General Summary
Provides quality control support in the repair, machining and receiving departments as well as other areas assigned by immediate supervisor.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concern
- Performs inspection duties when assigned by the Director of QHSE.
- Performs clerical duties when assigned by the Director of QHSE.
- Performs other duties relevant to the position as assigned the Director of QHSE
- Communicates and interacts with all parties on all quality issues and other issues as designated by his/her supervisor.
- Performs receiving inspection on incoming materials by confirming specification, conducting visual and dimensional inspections as well as documentation verification i.e. MTR’s, C of C’s, nondestructive testing reports etc.
- Inspects in-process machined parts conducting visual and/or dimensional inspections
- Writes and logs NCRs as needed.
- Keeps measuring equipment operational and in good condition.
- Follows appropriate inspection procedures and processes applicable to part or product.
- Performs the required inspection which may include any or all of the following:
- Checking required critical dimensions to specified tolerances.
- Assessment of machined finish and/or material hardness.
- Witnessing of hydro testing.
- Inspect and set adjustable inspection instruments or tools to read-out accurately.
- Perform in-process inspections as required on shop floor.
- Assures that all required quality control inspection points have been completed for the part or assembly and verifying that all documentation is accurate and complete for the job package.
- Partners with the Director of Quality and the Operations Manager to support the facility’s quality goals and help ensure that the facility meets both internal and external customer expectations.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical school or college degree preferred
- Prefer 2 years of inspection experience in a shop manufacturing setting
- Ability to read and interpret Quality Control documents, codes, standards, and customer specifications
- Solid working knowledge of blueprint reading
- Basic understanding of Nondestructive Testing techniques (previous certification preferred), heat treating, and NDE and Heat Treat specifications.
- Working knowledge in the use of Tape Measure, Calipers, and Micrometers.
Work Conditions
- Working hours: Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm (hours may vary from time to time depending on work load. Some Saturdays may be required as well )
- Position is based 90% in the shop with 10% office duties.
- Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a manufacturing atmosphere
- Interaction with other employees, as well as supervisors
- Working around production machinery with extreme noise levels
- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by Bestway oilfield (Steel toe boots, Protective OSHA approved eyewear)
- Must be able to tolerate climate changes
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Must be able to walk and climb when performing duties
- Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver around working area
