Position type: Full & Part Time Positions
Description of responsibilities:
· This position guides garments or garment parts under machine needles and presser foot pedals to sew parts together.
· Operate single needle sewing machines to perform basic sewing steps.
· Align fabric, garments and materials under needles using guides, marks on machines, and notches as guides.
· Trim excess threads from garments after sewing, using scissors, nippers, or automatic trimming machines.
· Identify problems that arise with material and/or machine.
· Work with leads towards meeting performance standards.
· Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
· All other duties assigned.
Preferred experience: Experience with either a Single needle machine, Merrow machine, Coverstitch machine, or Flat Seamer machine. Ability to use standard tools such as snips, scissors, and ruler.
Ability to thread machines, change bobbin and needles, align materials, control pedal and sew required seams
Physical requirements:
Ability to sit long periods of time
Prolonged periods of twisting and turning at work station
