For 50 years, Bet Tzedek Legal Services has provided high-quality, free legal services to Los Angeles' most vulnerable residents. The Homeowner Protection team continues Bet Tzedek's history of real estate and economic justice work. The team focuses on protecting homeowners at risk of losing ownership or equity to their homes to promote housing stability and preserve intergenerational wealth and stability in Los Angeles's highest need communities. The delivery of legal services starts with our intake screener, who works compassionately to screen potential clients, securing eligibility and preliminary case information, manage client information in our case management database, conduct basic research and provide referrals or follow up when necessary. This is a temporary position to assist the team with a backlog of work. The duration will be for at least 4 months.
This position is onsite. As such, the employee will be required to work in the office or other work-related locations to meet workload / business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Handle a high-volume of calls from community members seeking legal services.
- Interviewing and collecting facts and information from potential clients and other sources.
- Enter and track data in LegalServer (case management database), including assigning staff for client follow-up.
- Data entry, scanning, copying, word processing, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, processing case files, drafting and mailing correspondence, and other administrative duties.
- Maintain updated referral information.
- Provide other general administrative support as requested.
- Other duties may be assigned.
