Job Overview
:

The Associate Director: Curriculum and Supervision will play a pivotal role in overseeing the implementation and quality of the curriculum at Bet Yeladim Preschool. This position ensures that educational practices are developmentally appropriate, aligned with The Creative Curriculum and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) early learning standards, and infused with Jewish values and traditions.

The Associate Director provides leadership and mentorship to teaching staff, fostering a collaborative, reflective, and growth-oriented environment. By maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and family engagement, this role directly contributes to the well-being and success of both children and educators. The Associate Director works in partnership with the Executive Director to uphold the school’s mission and vision.


Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development & Oversight:

  • Lead the ongoing implementation and continuous evaluation of the curriculum, ensuring it is effectively integrated into daily practices and aligned with early childhood education standards.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of The Creative Curriculum through classroom observations, child assessments, and feedback from staff, adjusting as necessary to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Ensure that curriculum resources, materials, and activities are aligned with the principles of the curriculum and meet the needs of the children.


Staff Supervision & Development:

  • Supervise, mentor, and coach teaching staff on the effective implementation of the curriculum, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality educational experiences.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and annual reviews providing constructive feedback on curriculum delivery, teaching practices, and classroom management to ensure ongoing professional growth. 
  • Lead professional development sessions focused on a variety of topics including The Creative Curriculum to ensure that staff are proficient in its use and understand how to adapt it to meet individual learning needs.


Programming and Operations:

  • Organize and implement program activities, including special events, enrichment, and summer camps.
  • Assist the Executive Director in ensuring compliance with all state licensing regulations, accreditation standards, and safety protocols.
  • Regularly monitor classroom environments to ensure they are conducive to learning, safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations.


Family & Community Engagement:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families.
  • Coordinate and support family engagement activities, including parent-teacher conferences, workshops, and community events.
  • Communicate effectively with families about program updates,The Creative Curriculum approach, and how it supports their child’s development.


Leadership & Program Development:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on strategic initiatives to enhance program quality and staff development.
  • Take on leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Director, ensuring that program operations continue smoothly and staff are supported.
  • Advocate for initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the program, ensuring these values are reflected in the curriculum and teaching practices.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in early childhood education, including curriculum and supervision.
  • Proven experience using The Creative Curriculum in early childhood education settings.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles, early learning standards, and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, and supporting staff with the ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and engage families in the educational process.
  • Familiarity with state licensing regulations and accreditation processes.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR and child care administration (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of Jewish customs and practices.


Job Requirements:

  • Full-time position, primarily during weekdays, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities for events and meetings.
  • Some physical activity required, including lifting, bending, and moving 


Compensation:

  • Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000, based upon experience and education.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
