The Opportunity

BETA is a self-clearing securities processing solution for wealth management firms.  Built on years of expert knowledge and hands-on experience, BETA provides critical back-office controls including corporate action management, middle office exception management, and front office account management and trading tools for advisors.

We’re in search of a test automation specialist to join one of our project teams as well as contribute thought leadership to our test automation approach. This role is accountable for the testing and overall quality of the deliverables their project team builds to enhance our suite of financial products. You will influence a cross-functional project team and be responsible for coordinating and executing end-to-end testing needs in partnership with the other members of the project team. The role requires balancing time across multiple tasks or projects, learning and understanding complex brokerage-related concepts, quality reporting, performing independent test design, testing, and test documentation as well as strong situational awareness and relationship management skills. 

Position Summary

The Specialist, Software Engineering position will participate in architecting, implementing, and supporting enterprise level software solutions.  The ideal candidate will be able to work with both technical and non-technical staff to analyze and understand business requirements.  Candidates must have strong skills in architecting Java software solutions, data analysis, query writing, and stored procedure development.

Experience 

• 9 years of Spring/J2EE application development experience (Spring Framework, Servlets, JDBC)
• 4 years of relational database experience, developing queries and stored procedures (Preferably MSSQL/TSQL).
• Experience in web technologies including HTML, MaterialIU, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, REST (Preferably ReactJS)
• Experience managing and troubleshooting applications in AWS.  With understanding of AWS-native technologies:  EC2, auto-scaling groups, ECS, CloudFormation, lambda, etc.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot software applications

KEY FUNCTIONS

•            Produce functional and design specifications from provided business requirements

•            Assist business analysts in the identification and documentation of software requirements

•            Lead coding of new software applications according to provided requirements

•            Develop and present technical implementation plans and demonstrate working code in sprint reviews

•            Troubleshoot and resolve production software issues

•            Analyze applications, provide solutions for performance issues, solve complex problems

•            Provide regular project status reports for management

•            Provide support to QA department during both internal and external product testing

•            Perform code reviews of software produced by other team members

•            Mentor new and existing team developers in system design and development best practices
