Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Ability to interact positively with all age levels.
- General understanding of youth development, with a willingness to learn more.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with groups of varying ages and skill levels.
- Ability to identify environmental hazards and respond appropriately.
- Flexibility and willingness to help out where needed.
- Physical readiness to manage emergencies, including first aid and camper supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a camp setting with irregular hours and outdoor exposure.
- Endurance for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and walking long distances.
- Manual dexterity for handling outdoor equipment.
- Willingness to sit on the floor while participating in activities.
Responsibilities:
Camper Supervision and Care
- Review campers records prior to camp to familiarize yourself with their needs.
- Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers during activities.
- Ensure proper supervision of campers at all times, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
- Provide daily care for each camper, including taking them to the Camp Nurse, bathroom, and for water as needed.
- Assist with changing children in and out of swimsuits when necessary.
- Remain at Beth El until the last child in the group is picked up.
Counselor Supervision and Care
- Supervise 2-3 counselors working in your group.
- Provide positive feedback and constructive criticism as needed.
- Determine staff rotations for lunch, snacks, and breaks.
- Conduct written evaluation for each counselor mid-summer and at the end of the summer.
Activity Participation and Engagement
- Actively participate in all children's activities throughout the day.
- Read aloud stories/books and organize games to keep campers engaged during transitions.
- Wear a bathing suit and swim while campers are in the pool.
Food and Safety Management
- Collaborate with the Camper Care Coordinator to ensure that children with food allergies receive the correct food.
- Serve lunch to campers and provide second helpings as needed.
- Assist with snack pick-up and return on a rotating schedule.
Staff Development
- Attend camper meet-and-greets before the camp session begins.
- Participate in staff orientations prior to the opening of Day Camp.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
Role Modeling and Communication
- Exhibit a positive attitude and behavior as a role model for campers and staff.
- Uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
- Contribute to evaluations and communications as requested.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor equipment and facilities for proper care and maintenance, promptly reporting any issues.
- Set up and clean up your group’s cabana.
- Report any absences to the Camp Director no later than June 1st.
Parent/Guardian Communication
- Call all campers’ parents/guardians prior to the start of camp to introduce yourself and learn more about your campers.
- Communicate with parents/guardians as needed, but make at least one call during week one, three, and five.
- Report all behavior concerns,flagging concerning eating habits, and bathroom habits to Camp Director and parent/guardian.
- Show Camp Director all written communication prior to sending.

- All Staff #1: Sunday, June 22 (11:30am - 6:00pm)
- All Staff #2: Monday, June 23 (5:00pm - 9:00pm)
- All Staff #3: Sunday, June 29 (12:00pm - 3:00pm)
- Camper Meet and Greet:
- Meet & Greet #1: Wednesday, June 25 (3:00pm - 6:00pm)
- Meet & Greet #2: Thursday, June 26 (3:00pm - 6:00pm)
- Camp Session: June 30 - August 15, 2024 (closed July 4th)
- Hours: 8:20 A.M. - 4:15 P.M.
- Bi-Weekly Staff Meetings: 7:45 A.M.
Compensation: $3,150 to $6,000 commensurate with experience and length of camp day.
