What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool/After School Teacher position at Bethania Preschool & Afterschool?
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement age-appropriate activities for preschool-aged children & or School Age children
-Be responsible for the daily teaching program as outlined by and under the supervision of the Director.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.
- Foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through play and structured activities.
- Use various teaching methods to engage children in learning, including hands-on activities, group discussions, and individual instruction.
- Assess and monitor each child's progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians as needed
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
-Be responsible for the arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom.
Experience Preferred:
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
- Ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Education:
- 12 Postsecondary semester or equivalent units in early childhood education or child development completed, with passing grades, at an accredited or approved college or university; and at least 6 months of work experience in a licensed childcare center or comparable group.
or
- Have completed with passing grades, at least 6 postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or child development at an accredited approved college or university.
or
- A current and valid CDA credential with appropriate age level endorsement & at least 6 months of on-the-job-training and/or work experience in a licensed childcare center or comparable group childcare program.
or
One of the following Child Development Permits issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing:
A) Child Development Associate Teacher Permit; or
B) Child Development Teacher Permit; or
C) Child Development Master Teacher Permit
