Description
Bethany Athletic Club's new childcare center Bkids, seeks an Assistant Director to join the Bkids team! The Assistant Director will be assist the Director in overseeing the BKids Daycare Preschool and fostering a safe, supportive, and educational environment for children. They will be responsible to assist in all areas of childcare including staffing, administration, legal compliance, and enrollment of the center.
Schedule: M-F
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintains compliance with certified daycare center rules
- Developing operation and personnel policies
- Managing a team of aids and teachers
- Trains new employees and provides ongoing training for all childcare/youth programs staff
- Coordinates the weekly schedule, covering different shifts if necessary
- Serves as the lead customer service contact for members in Bkids, including: answering questions, welcoming parents and other member communications
- Develops and manages all employees
- Establishes, monitors and analyzes the budget
- Develops and implements policies and procedures
- Orders any supplies needed
- Refers all HR related issues including hiring, termination, performance issues, etc. to the Operations Manager and/or HR department
- Must be able to work days, evenings and weekends as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Certified in CPR/First Aid
- Meets Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care of a Childcare Center Director
- Step 9 in the Oregon Registry
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in early learning education or relevant field.
- Min 2 years working in certified childcare center.
- Experience managing and leading a team of 8
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) from college or university with a major in:
- Early childhood education

- Elementary education
- Special education
- Associate degree (AS/AA) from a college with a major in:
- Early childhood education
- Child development
- A one-year state or nationally recognized credential related to preschool-age care.
- Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in:
- Early childhood education
- Child Development
- Elementary education
- Special education
- AND at least one year of qualifying teacher experience* in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of preschool-age children
- At least two years of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of preschool-age children
- Documentation of attending at least Step 8.5 in the Oregon Registry
- Director must provide verification to ORO (Oregon Registry Online) that they obtained 10 hours of training in the core knowledge category of program management; or they must obtain 10 hours within the first year of hire.
TRAINING:
- Head teachers must have completed OCC approved health and safety training (before having unsupervised access to children)
- Have completed a minimum of two hours of training on child abuse and neglect that is specific to Oregon law before they can have unsupervised access to children.
If the center is certified to care for infants, the head teacher must have completed OCC approved safe sleep training.

Language Requirement
All team members must have the basic ability to use computer/smart phone applications for training and company system purposes. Employees must also be able to comprehend written documents such as work orders, safety rules, instructions, policies, and procedures. Also required is the ability of employees to speak and communicate effectively with clients, coworkers and management.
