Job Purpose
The Teacher Assistant supports a Special Education Teacher in planning and implementing educational services for the patients. This position assists with daily activities in the classroom and special outings, maintains cleanliness and orderliness in the classrooms, and provides developmentally appropriate interaction and opportunities for success during all learning activities.
Hours of Operation
Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Duty
Percent of Time
Plans, prepares, and implements daily classroom activities as they relate to the curriculum as well as assists with group activities and outings.
50%
Sets up and maintains learning environments by keeping toys, devices, supplies, cabinets sanitized and organized.
20%
Encourages team to strive for continuous improvement, delegates tasks appropriately, provides clear instructions, guidance, training, and mentoring.
15%
Completes required documentation accurately and thoroughly.
15%
Provides children with developmentally appropriate interaction and opportunities during learning activities.

Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
Minimum 1-year experience working with children with special needs in an educational classroom setting preferred. If currently employed at BCHC, the candidate must have a written recommendation provided by the supervisor. Must complete a Teacher Assistant Interview Questionnaire. Must exhibit initiative, flexibility, good ethical conduct, remain on task, have good communication skills, and work collaboratively with the team.
