Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, Marketing, and Communication, the Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy to strengthen the relationship between Bethany College and its alumni community. This position will focus on fostering meaningful connections, increasing alumni participation, and enhancing engagement through events, volunteer opportunities, and communications. The Director will work closely with Advancement, the Alumni Council and Association, Enrollment, Career Services, Student Life, Athletics, and other key campus partners to build a vibrant and supportive alumni network.
This is a full-time, exempt position requiring occasional evening and weekend commitments, as well as regional travel.
Key Responsibilities
· Alumni Engagement & Volunteer Leadership:
o Serve as a key advocate for Bethany’s alumni, providing strategic leadership for alumni engagement efforts.
o Strengthen and support the Bethany College Alumni Association and its leadership, fostering connections that advance the College’s mission.
o Expand opportunities for alumni involvement, including mentorship programs, regional and campus events, career networking, and volunteer roles.
· Event Planning & Programming:
o Plan and execute major alumni events such as Homecoming & Alumni Weekend, regional gatherings, and affinity-based reunions.
o Partner with internal stakeholders to develop programming that strengthens the student-to-alumni transition and lifelong engagement.
o Leverage digital engagement tools to connect alumni virtually and enhance outreach efforts.
· Alumni Giving & Advancement Support:
o Collaborate with the Advancement team to identify, cultivate, and steward alumni donors.
o Develop initiatives that encourage philanthropic support through annual giving opportunities.
· Marketing & Communications:
o Work with the Communications team to develop and implement strategic alumni messaging, including newsletters, social media, and digital outreach.
o Maintain accurate alumni records and engagement metrics to assess program effectiveness and inform future strategies.
Qualifications
· Education:
o Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree preferred.
· Experience:
o Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in alumni relations, advancement, event planning, marketing, or a related field.
o Proven track record in developing engagement strategies, volunteer management, and event execution.
· Skills & Abilities:
o Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
o Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to engage a variety of stakeholders.
o Ability to work collaboratively across departments while also leading independent initiatives.
o Experience with CRM databases, event planning software, and digital engagement tools is a plus.
· Additional Requirements:
o Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel regionally for alumni events and meetings.
o Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for alumni engagement activities.
