Job Description

PURPOSE:
- This position, under general supervision, is responsible for administering all form of financial aid in accordance with Federal, State and Institutional regulations. The Director is also responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. The Director will ensure that Bethany College continues to fulfill its mission in services to its students and the community through responsible fiscal management of financial aid resources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in the ongoing development of policies and procedures for the financial aid office.
- Oversee all Title IV, state, and institutional financial aid resources
- Managing cohort default rates and default prevention plan
- Oversee and participate in the process of meeting with prospective and continuing students to apply for and secure financial aid to cover educational expenses
- Counsels students and parents regarding financial aid eligibility and ensures all students are provided with accurate information in regards to financial aid, resources, and their obligations regarding said resources
- Responsible for the prompt and appropriate delivery of federal, state, and institutional financial aid
- Oversee the maintenance of student financial records
- Responsible for internal audit controls at the campus level and ensuring Bethany College is in compliance with regulatory bodies
- Oversee the operation of the Jenzabar financial aid module and that all required updates are timely and compliant
- Responsible for completing regulatory reports in a timely manner
- Responsible for maintaining all financial aid records and student financial aid files in accordance with federal, state, and institution requirements
- Communicate effectively with the Dean of Enrollment to ensure team-centered environment
- Maintain a financial literacy program to serve students
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate financial aid staff, manage department budget
- Interface with financial aid community, lenders, and miscellaneous funding sources
- Interact effectively and positively with all campus departments
- Provide continual evaluation of processes and procedures. Responsible for suggesting methods to improve area operations, efficiency, and service to both internal and external customers.
- Interact daily with the Assistant Director of Financial Aid; provide communication on policies and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings, providing input and suggestions.
- Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Five years’ experience in managing financial aid or federal aid programs
- Experience in computerized financial aid systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong work ethic – dedicated to completing the job.
- Ability to communicate effectively to various audiences, including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration, and the community-at-large.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be very results-oriented.
- Highly motivated and works well both independently and in a team environment.
- Functional knowledge with Microsoft Windows
- Functional knowledge with Microsoft Office
- Basic personal computer operation
- Willingness to adapt to a changing technology environment, i.e., updates, security, and new versions
- Ability to use multiple Internet browsers
- Competent in email and document management
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
On location, work is generally performed indoors with ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. May periodically travel to assigned locations.
