SUMMARY:
Work under the supervision of Charge Nurse to provide supportive care to Bethany Home residents. Must be able to transfer residents using proper lifting technique and according to resident’s care plan, assist residents with all aspects of ADLs, personal hygiene. May be expected to take vital signs. Encourage proper intake of nutrition and hydration and assist as necessary. Observe any changes in resident condition and report those changes to Charge Nurse.
Understand and maintain confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Have knowledge of, and perform tasks outlined in, individual care plan of assigned residents.
- Assist residents in activities of daily living, helping to maintain their independence and mobility.
- Use proper lift and transfer technique, according to resident care plan.
- Encourage and assist residents in maintaining proper nutrition and hydration.
- Understand and maintain confidentiality.
- Understand Bethany Home’s policies on abuse prevention, safety, fire safety, severe weather safety.
- Implement infection control practices according to Bethany Home policy.
- Document accurately according to Bethany Home policy.
- Complete in-service training as assigned.
- Understand ADL computer system and use it according to Bethany Home policy.
- Accountable for the all skills on skills checklist.
- All other assigned duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Strength: Medium – exerting 20 -50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, or negligible– 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
State of Kansas Nurse’s Aide Certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of, and ability to perform, all aspects of resident care. Ability to transfer residents according to individual care plan and safety procedures. Knowledge and practice of Bethany Home safety procedures, and infection control practices. Understanding of Bethany Home policies on abuse prevention policy, resident’s rights and confidentiality. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks. Ability to follow and carry out requests of charge nurse.
