Housekeeper

Description

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the housekeeping supervisor, or their agent, performs housekeeping duties for the facility and residents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain cleanliness and servicing of assigned area, and assures that resident's personal and property rights are maintained.
2. Follow written and oral instruction from the supervisor.
3. Operates and care for all appropriate equipment to perform housekeeping duties.
4. Understands functions of cleaning chemicals and other chemicals.
5. Follows all established housekeeping and safety guidelines. Adheres to infection control practices when performing housekeeping procedures.
6. Follows all facility policies.
7. Maintains effective relationships with employees, residents and the general public.
8. Attends staff and in-service meetings as required.
9. Performs other related assigned duties.

• Strength: Light – exerting 10 -20 pounds of force occasionally, or 0- 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Standing or Walking: Constantly (activity exists up to 2/3 or more of the time)

• Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching or Crawling: Frequently (activity existing 1/3 –2/3 of the time)

• Smelling: Constantly (activity exists up to 2/3 of the time)
• Near Acuity or Color Vision: Constantly (activity exists 2/3 or more of the time)
• Far Acuity: Constantly (activity exists up to 1/3 of the time)
• Field of Vision or Depth Perception: Constantly (activity exists up to 2/3 or more of the time)

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent; related on the job experience or training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of and ability to use cleaning agents, supplies and equipment; knowledge of and ability to apply current federal and state regulations, policies and procedures; ability to communicate and perform the essential tasks and duties of the department; ability to consider alternatives and make decisions; ability to handle confidential information; ability to work well with people including staff, residents, families and community; ability to follow requests.
