MedTech in Assisted Living with Dementia/Memory Care
Job Description:
Responsible for storing, set up, distributing, and documenting medication service to residents in accordance with all laws and regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains resident’s medication record in accordance with policy and regulations.
- Assures medications are available for distribution by communicating with pharmacies, residents, and families.
- Demonstrates the ability to distinguish different types of medications and uses or can locate and use resources when more information is necessary in order to assure medication is stored and distributed safely.
- Preparing/sets up medications and delivers medications to residents for self-administration on a timely and accurate basis and in accordance with resident’s records.
- Makes pertinent observations regarding resident's conditions and reports all documentation meets the regulatory requirements. Seeks consultation form Supervisor or Pharmacy resource when appropriate.
- May assist in other areas of resident care and services as directed by the Supervisor or as needed by caregiver if time permits. May include just giving prompts or advise to caregivers for guidance.
- Follows all rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines as outlined in Employee Handbook.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner. Participates in the safety program.
- Reports to Med Tech oncoming shift any resident care needs that need follow up for next shift.
- Participates with training and In-Services.
- Completes end of shift reports/eResident eNotes.
- Completes medication pass in a timely manner.
- Completes documentation in timely manner.
- Medtech will comply with RCFE regulations, ensuring that documentation and medication assistance is completed and that all required and other pertinent information is documented/reported to on coming shift and manager before the end of shift.
- Ensuring caregivers are reporting any changes in condition of residents, including bowel movements, noticed marks, wounds, agitated/aggressive behaviors.
- MedTech will monitor bodily fluids output.. including BM’s, catheter, weight, changes in condition, etc…
- Knowledge of eMAR and knowledge of computers, word, excel and other software as necessary.
- Responds to emergencies, assist with transport documentation preparation as needed.
- Contacting families, doctors and outside providers as needed in a timely manner.
- Assists with ADL’s as needed for incontinence, repositioning, and other needs if time permits.
ABILITY AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Must have experience in and demonstrate proficiency with the ability to perform job duties in a safe manner.
- Previous experience in an assisted living environment preferred.
- Must be proficient with communication skills, both written and oral, and must have the ability to read and write, and understand English.
- Must be able to relate with residents and families.
