Position Overview: As a Shelter Housing Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating housing services for families within our Emergency Shelter program. Your primary focus will be on creating personalized housing plans, fostering connections between clients and potential landlords, and ensuring a smooth transition from emergency shelter to a permanent home. Youll provide direct support and coaching while advocating for the needs of our clientshelping them navigate the path to secure and affordable housing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with families to develop actionable housing plans tailored to their unique situations.
- Conduct property inspections and maintain knowledge of available affordable housing options in our community.
- Coach clients on tenant rights, lease agreements, and effective communication with property owners.
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide vital statistics for program reporting.
- Engage in team meetings and training, fostering a supportive environment for both clients and staff.
What Were Looking For:
- An Associate degree in a related field; a Bachelors degree is a plus!
- 1-2 years of experience working with families at risk of homelessness.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an understanding of the impact of trauma on families.
- A commitment to confidentiality and a respectful approach to diverse backgrounds.
