The Activities/Social Services Manager shall be directly accountable to the Skilled Nursing Facility Administrator. The Manager will be required to work well with other department managers and staff employees. The Manger will work closely with the Inter-Disciplinary Team, staff and Chaplains to provide the highest quality of life for residents.

- Comprehend and supervise compliance with OBRA, HIPAA and Title 22 in the areas of social services and activities on behalf of residents being served at Bethany.
- Hire, schedule hours, train and supervise activity assistants and social services staff. Prepare annual performance appraisals and plan departmental in-service meetings.
- Prepare and present one annual in-service for the certified nursing assistants regarding activity needs of residents.
- Participate in the admission of each resident by providing emotional support, identify and label valuables (glasses, watches, wheelchairs), interview residents and/or family regarding resident’s activity patterns and preferences.
- Participate in quarterly/annual health team conferences with the Inter-Disciplinary Team.
- Review residents’ activity participation records and, at least quarterly, update Activity care plans in charts.
- Recruit, interview and oversee the volunteer program at Bethany. Plan and coordinate the annual appreciation tea.
- Schedule and host quarterly Family Councils and monthly Resident Council meetings.
