Position: Schaumburg Christian Day Camp (SCDC) Leader for 1st–3rd Grade
Reports To: SCDC Camp Director
Employment Type: Seasonal, Full-Time (Summer)
Location: Schaumburg Christian School
Age Requirement: 18 years old
The SCDC Leader is a high-level, intensive role requiring strong leadership, energy, and a deep commitment to serving students in a Christ-centered, engaging, and structured environment. Leaders are responsible for the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of students while ensuring a safe, organized, and fun summer camp experience. This role demands initiative, adaptability, and the ability to manage both large and small groups effectively. Key Responsibilities
1. Spiritual Leadership
- Model Christ-like character and biblical wisdom in all interactions.
- Share biblical truth and lead students in gospel-centered conversations.
- Provide biblical counsel and encouragement to students and fellow leaders.
2. Program Leadership & Execution
- Supervise and actively engage students in daily activities, ensuring full participation.
- Implement and enforce camp schedules, rules, and policies with consistency.
- Lead group activities, games, and field trips with enthusiasm and organization.
- Monitor transitions between activities to maintain order and minimize downtime.
3. Student Engagement & Management
- Build positive relationships with students, fostering a fun and respectful environment.
- Maintain firm but loving discipline, using biblical conflict resolution when needed.
- Identify and support students struggling emotionally, socially, or behaviorally.
4. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Work closely with fellow leaders to ensure a unified, cooperative team environment.
- Communicate effectively with leadership staff regarding challenges and solutions.
- Mentor students, helping them grow in leadership skills with their peers.
5. Safety & Risk Management
- Maintain a vigilant awareness of student safety at all times.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, injuries, or behavioral issues.
- Follow all camp policies regarding medical incidents, allergies, and first aid protocols.
6. Administrative Duties
- Arrive on time daily and attend all pre-camp and post-camp meetings.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and incident reports.
- Ensure all equipment, supplies, and facilities are used responsibly and properly maintained.
1. Spiritual & Leadership Qualifications
- Spiritual Maturity: A committed Christian who aligns with Schaumburg Christian School’s mission and values.
- Leadership Experience: Prior experience in camp ministry, youth leadership, or teaching preferred.
- Servant Leadership: A heart for discipling students and fostering a Christ-centered camp culture.
2. Skills & Abilities
- Energy & Stamina: This role requires physical endurance, mental resilience, and the ability to lead all day.
- Strong Communication: Must be able to lead, teach, and direct students and fellow leaders clearly and effectively.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think quickly, adapt to challenges, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Team Player: Works well with others, takes initiative, and contributes to a positive, Christ-centered camp culture.
3. Additional Requirements
- Commitment to the Full Summer Schedule (June 2—August 8).
- Experience working with children in a school, camp, or church setting is a plus.
- Attendance at training event (Friday, May 30th. This will include CPR/AED training)
- In addition to the in-person training event, you will also be required to complete an online training course and mandated reporter training.
