What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Ministries Manager position at Bethel Lutheran Church?
We are seeking a full-time Community Ministries Manager position who support’s Bethel’s work through the oversight of key outreach programs, specifically the Food Pantry and the Homeless Ministry. This position will work collaboratively to provide strategic oversight along implementation and execution of those strategic plans to support program growth. This position is also responsible for providing daily operational support to these key programs. We are looking for a collaborative, adaptable, and resilient individual to join our team in this role.
Role Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of our key outreach program boards and collaborate with members and church leadership to establish program impact goals.
- Collaboratively develop and implement strategies to measure progress towards program goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, community groups, churches, and government entities.
- Provide key outreach program communication through various communication channels and ensure clear and consistent communication with program leaders and the church community.
- Research and apply for grant opportunities both locally and nationally.
- Provide volunteer oversight to include the development and implementation of procedures and practices for volunteers and lead volunteer recruitment efforts.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the key outreach programs including relationship building, registration, data management, supply management and reporting.
- Team with volunteer coordinators for food delivery and ordering.
- Provide oversight to ensure established operational procedures and protocols are followed.
- Serve as a staff representative on assigned internal ministry teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Social Welfare, or related fields is preferred.
- 3 years' experience in a ministry leadership, nonprofit management, or community services role with a proven track record in managing outreach programs is required.
- Deep commitment to Bethel’s mission, values, and community service.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Google Workspace is required.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day operations while balancing strategic responsibilities.
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, team management, and community partnership building.
- Proficient in budgeting, resource management, and using data to drive program enhancements.
- Empathetic, adaptable, and capable of handling diverse and challenging situations.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and poise under pressure.
- Ability to maintain confidence and guard confidential information.
- Commitment to manage conflict directly and gracefully.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, community-focused environment.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required to meet program needs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
- Completion of a background check is required.
