- Collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Directors on the continued alignment of the Washington State Learning Standards/World Language standards with district curriculum, including work on instructional guides.
- Work with grade level and department leaders on implementing Standards-Based Instruction and Grading.
- Assist teachers and schools in using assessment data to inform instruction and school improvement plans.
- Facilitate teachers’ use of best practices in instruction.
- Support data-driven instructional decision-making.
- Support World Language school and District PLC and Dual Language at vertical PLCs at Spanaway MS and Spanaway Lake HS.
- Attend professional learning to maintain an understanding of current research in Dual Language and World Language learning and awareness of state initiatives.
- Build learning collegial relationships with individual staff members.
- Attend planning meetings with other coaches from the Teaching and Learning department.
- Provide professional learning planning and facilitation for classroom teachers in various settings (Bethel Professional Learning, State Professional Learning Days, Waiver Days, after school, PLCs, etc.)
- Effectively manage projects and time with clear outcomes and results.
- Master's Degree and/or National Board Certification preferred.
- High School teaching experience preferred.
- Extensive background in instructional strategies, classroom management strategies, assessments, and deep knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for Dual Language &/or ACTFL Standards for World Language.
- Spanish proficiency preferred.

The Dual Language/World Language (DL/WL) Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) will work collaboratively with the Teaching and Learning Directors. The TOSA will work closely with classroom teachers, department leaders, and building administrators to support and promote Dual Language/World Language programs. Responsibilities will include facilitating curriculum alignment, supporting schools using assessment data, mentoring early career teachers, and providing professional learning and instructional coaching. The DL/WL TOSA will spend most of the workweek away from the district office, serving teachers and administrators in their school buildings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
This position receives a $4,000 stipend for functions related to those above that extend beyond the regular workday/work year. A non-exhaustive list of those activities includes content leader meetings, induction meetings, instructional materials training, curriculum adoption/selection meetings, and other special projects. These activities are subject to change, and not all TOSAs attend all meetings/trainings/other activities.
May be required to work under stressful situations. Interruptions of work are routine. May be exposed to infectious diseases.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Valid and appropriate certification.
5 years of successful Dual Language &/or World Language teaching experience.
Experience on state and/or district instructional committees.
Experience in leadership activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to articulate ideas and communicate well with others.
Ability to organize ideas and coordinate multiple tasks and materials to accomplish goals.
Ability to organize time and commit to a flexible work schedule.
Experience collaborating with teachers and administration around instructional practices.
