1st Shift Custodial Supervisor

Job Summary

Supervising all custodial responsibilities for the assigned buildings, including scheduling, prioritizing, and assigning tasks for staff and student custodians. Works alongside shift custodians to fulfill cleaning protocols. Coordinates and fulfills event setups, work requests, seasonal tasks, and projects.

Responsibilities

1. Clean and maintain assigned areas. – 30%

• Clean and service lavatories.
• Clean and sanitize surfaces.
• Vacuum carpets and rugs.
• Collect loose debris and deposit it in the appropriate receptacles.
• Remove and replace full receptacle liners and place full liners in the appropriate collection area.
• Clean receptacles when necessary.
• Mop and sweep floors, stairs and other hard surfaces.

2. Supervision - 25%

• Leads the shift in cleaning and maintaining assigned buildings.
• Supervises shift staff, student workers and contract cleaners.
• Oversees the work orders for the shift

3. Administration - 20%

• Assists in the hiring and training of staff and student custodians.
• Assists in resolving disciplinary problems among the team.
• Approves timesheets.
• Schedules student workers for shifts.

4. Event Set Up - 25%

• Assist with summer conferences set up and take down.
• Assist conference and events services with event set up and take down.

Required Skills

• Must be a self-starter.
• Ability to work both independently and on a team.
• Excellent customer service attitude.
• Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple duties.
• Ability to use cleaning equipment.
• Able to move moderately heavy items.
• General knowledge of cleaning terms and safety procedures.
• General knowledge of Google suite, Microsoft Office Suite and event planning software.
• Must be able to supervise a team.
• Must be able to supervise students.

Experience

3 years of related experience.

Education

Highschool diploma or equivalent.

Additional Information

Travel: This position requires no travel.

Work Environment:This job requires working with and around chemicals and complies with environmental health and safety requirements and procedures as outlined by University and State policies and directives.

The job requires extended periods of traversing the Bethel Campus on a regular basis. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Expected Hours of Work:This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position. Typical working hours are on 1st Shift (8:00 am – 4:00 pm), Monday – Friday. Some overtime may be required. This position is considered essential personnel and must be availableoutside of normal working hours if needed to support contingency operations such as snow removal or support of special events.
