Job Summary

Assist the Director of Financial Aid in student counseling, financial aid awarding and revisions, quality control and special projects. Serves as the primary Veterans Administration School Certifying Official.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • VA School Certifying Official - 50%
  • Serve as the primary VA School Certifying Official.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork to certify enrollment and enrollment changes for students eligible for VA educational benefits.
  • Act as the backup for non-VA military educational benefits.
  • Financial Aid Counseling - 25%
  • Prepare and revise financial aid offers.
  • Provide customer service through appointments, email, and phone contact.
  • Financial Aid Reporting - 18%
  • Complete critical financial aid reports.
  • Maintain the office Awarding Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Serve as the backup for monthly reconciliation of TEACH, PELL, and Direct Loans.
  • Clean-up Reports & Administrative Support - 5%
  • Complete clean-up reports and other duties.
  • Assist with financial aid guest reception processes.
  • Regulatory Compliance - 2%
  • Stay current on financial aid regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be an effective leader.
  • Excellent understanding of the federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations and policies.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google suite.
  • Working knowledge of a student information system.
  • Expertise in a financial aid software.
  • Must be able to solve conflicts.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in written form.
  • Must be able to work with confidential information.
  • Prioritizes tasks and manages time effectively.
  • Listens to others, responds with empathy, truth, and respect.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills and be able to anticipate potential problems.
  • Speaks clearly and distinctly in person and over phone.
  • Experience

    4 years of financial aid experience.

    Education

    Bachelor's degree.

    Must have part one and two of the NASFAA credentials completed.

    Additional Information

    Must not be in default of any Title IV loans.
