Job Summary

Position Summary : The Graduate Assistant- Resident Director (GA-RD) position assists with supervising and leading a residence hall community with the goal of fostering a robust living and learning environment. GA-RDs do this through staff and student development, resident outreach, community building, attention to facilities, emergency response, and administrative organization.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement & Student Support
  • Foster a vibrant community through social events, educational programs, and an active presence in a freshman residence hall.
  • Connect with students to support their holistic growth and development.
  • Supervision & Leadership
  • Supervise Resident Assistants, including hiring, one-on-one meetings, and team development.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to student staff.
  • Crisis Management & On-Call Responsibilities
  • Serve in the on-call rotation, respond to emergencies, and advise students as needed.
  • Conduct administrative follow-up for student concerns and incidents.
  • Administrative & Operational Management
  • Oversee residence hall operations, including budget management and housing logistics.
  • Participate in meetings with the Assistant Dean for Residence Life and the Residence Life team.
  • Summer Housing Oversight & Special Projects
  • Serve as Summer Housing Staff, managing housing processes and student support.
  • Engage in special projects as assigned to enhance residence life programs and services.

    Travel : This position requires little to no travel.

    Work Environment :

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and / or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

    This position is required to live on campus.
