POSITION SUMMARY :

NMDP is looking for a seasoned UX Researcher to join their growing insights team. The UX Researcher at NMDP sits on the Enterprise Market Research & Insights team and is an embedded strategic partner to the product directors / managers on the Innovation and Strategy team and is responsible for leading all UX Research work for that business team.

This individual contributor will design and conduct qualitative and quantitative UX research studies throughout the product development lifecycle (from inception to completion, including project scoping & design, research execution, data analysis and presentation of findings). Their ability to analyze complex information and translate it into actionable insights will inform design decisions and product strategy. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, they will advocate for user-centered solutions and ensure research findings are integrated into the development process.

Additionally, UX research is a growing discipline at NMDP, we are looking for a proactive, innovative and strategic researcher who can establish best practices for a new discipline while driving research's impact in support of product and business goals.

ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Lead and Execute UX Research Projects : With limited oversight, you will lead and own all aspects the UX research projects including defining research objectives, methodology design, moderating consumer interviews, overseeing recruitment, developing discussion guides and questionnaires and analyzing data.
  • Relationship Management : Develop an understanding of your partners business challenges and objectives, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor by creating thoughtful research roadmaps and delivering insights that inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams : Develop strong working relationships with key partners including product managers, UX designers, developers, market researchers, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research findings into product strategy and design, ensuring user-centered solutions.
  • Workshop Facilitation : Facilitate workshops, whiteboarding, and brainstorming sessions as needed to collect relevant information, identify underlying challenges, ideate possible solutions, and help the team define and commit to next steps.
  • Strategic Thinking & Planning : Create and refresh comprehensive UX research roadmaps, aligning with product goals and user needs.
  • Deliverable Development and Upkeep : Creating actionable reports and socializing research to impact the development process. Maintain and update user personas, journey maps, and other UX artifacts to provide ongoing guidance for product development efforts. Interpreting research findings within the context of the broader market landscape, user demographics, and competitive analysis.
  • Industry Trends : Monitor industry trends and emerging UX methodologies to continuously improve research practices and contribute to the organization's UX knowledge base.
  • Operational Efficiency : Continuously seeking and implementing new ways to improve project process and deliverables.
  • Project management skills : Managing multiple UX research projects simultaneously and ensuring timely delivery.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Knowledge of :

  • Proven experience independently managing the design, execution and implementation of a range of UX research methodologies, including, but not limited to : usability testing, surveys, interviews, journey mapping and ethnographic research and other custom research studies.
  • Experience in UX research project management, including setting research objectives, timelines, and budgets while taking partners along and ensuring alignment.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g. designers, product managers, developers) and advocating for research-driven decisions and advocating for user-centered design principles across teams.
  • Proficiency in UX research tools and data analysis techniques, including the ability to synthesize insights from multiple data sources and form thoughtful observations and holistic insights and present findings in a meaningful way.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and experience with UX research tools (e.g., UserTesting.com, UserZoom, Qualtrics, DScout, Dovetail, EnjoyHQ, Marvin, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity).
  • Ability to :

  • Proven ability to effectively partner with cross-functional teams and build research agendas / workplans.
  • Ability to think in the long term and approach research with a focused plan that aligns user needs with broader business objectives, actively inform design decisions that contribute to the overall success of a product or service, considering long-term implications and future user behavior.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) and can effectively articulate their ideas, research plans and findings to diverse audiences in a way that aligns business goals with user needs, influencing product decisions.
  • Leads with a growth mindset; views research as a continuous process where findings are used to refine prototypes and test again, leading to better design outcome. Open to trying new approaches and being flexible to change and adjusting approach accordingly.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
  • Proactive and curious in nature and passionate about understanding consumer needs, market trends and human behavior.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Education and / or Experience :

  • BS / BA degree in marketing, business, analytics or other relevant discipline related to the requirements of the position.
  • A minimum of 6 years of professional experience leading and executing UX research, including both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Excellent portfolio showcasing strategic research approaches and actionable deliverables.
  • This position is hybrid in Minneapolis with in-office meetings 1-4 times per month.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)

  • UX research experience at a research agency or at a non-profit.
  • Prior experience in healthcare, especially working with EMR / EHR systems (e.g., EPIC, Cener e).
  • Demonstrated understanding of healthcare industry dynamics (systems / workflows), regulatory considerations, and system complexities.

To support this commitment, we provide clear and upfront information about the salary range for this position. The anticipated salary range for this role is $104,000-$130,000, an d will be commensurate with market pay, experience and qualifications.
