Summary
Notifies supervisor immediately of any concerns or problems within the facility. Reports to Supervisor any necessary supplies, shortages, or equipment needed within the department. Procures parts, supplies, and equipment. Properly documents material and supply orders and accounts for use of materials. Successfully completes all work orders by due date. Does general painting, small construction, minor plumbing repairs, and electrical repairs. Completes daily documentation and updates work orders on VERN. Maintains tools and vehicle in top working order. Drives company vehicles as needed to make deliveries and pick-ups, observing safety standards and traffic guidelines. Carries out all assignments promptly and accurately. Assists in corrective actions necessary to resolve safety hazards and conditions. Uses proper precautions and equipment necessary to avoid accidents or unsafe conditions for residents and staff. Practices preventative maintenance and makes suggestions on how to improve safety program. Callbacks are limited to minor adjustments of completed work. Completes daily equipment inspections and accurately completes necessary documentation of the status and condition of the equipment inspected. Performs on the spot adjustments and repairs as needed and within schedule. Initiates correctives if needed. Assists team leaders in the annual development of budgets. Maintains awareness of equipment needs. Follows OSHA regulations as established by Bethesda Health Group. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class E Driver's License
- Minimum of two years of experience with general contractor or proven skills including plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting and skilled taping
- Trade-school training is a plus, but not required
- Experience in remolding homes/apartments from tear out to move in ready preferred
- Must have experience in dealing with the public
- Must be able to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic
- Computer skills, including spreadsheets and word processing required
- Ability to follow directions, as well as problem solve independently on the job
- Must possess a sense of pride and have initiative
- Must be self-motivated
- Must speak English
- Extensive mobility required
- Ability to lift and carry large objects weighing up to 100lbs
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Ability to push, pull, and move supplies and equipment weighing 100lbs
- Work will be required in confined spaces for certain assignments
- Ability to concentrate on meticulous detail with moderate interruption
- Ability to understand and relate to specific ideas generally and remember tasks given to self and other over long periods of time
- Ability to work in a mechanical, electrical and patient care setting
- Exposure to high noise levels, high voltage, moving parts, hot steam lines, outdoor environment, sawdust, flammable liquids and chemicals in the department
Pay range: $16.82 - $27.25 per hour
