Position Summary
The Lab Associate is responsible for stocking the lab, producing small- & large-scale material, and maintaining a clean work environment to ensure maximum productivity. The successful candidate is detail-oriented, highly motivated, and willing to develop new processes where they do not exist.
What You Will Do
Perform critical regular laboratory maintenance duties that include but are not limited to dish washing, cleaning lab benches, clearing common-use lab space of unneeded materials, changing dialysis buffers, and reagent preparation.
- Develop proficiency in production techniques including fractionation, filtration, adsorption, purification, centrifugation, etc.
- Execute antibody production projects to generate catalog and specialty bulk/custom bulk materials as assigned.
- Accurately and completely document all required data related to production records.
- Ensure laboratory is well stocked and resourced.
- Effectively operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment.
- Become familiar with all laboratory SOP’s.
- Cross-train with other functions within the department to maintain business continuity.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management, which may not be listed above, that are necessary to accomplish our goal of improving lives by supporting scientific discovery.
Who You Are & What You Bring
- Must be very detail oriented, highly organized.
- Able to use independent thinking and judgment to perform tasks as needed without frequent supervision. Requires working with blood products, hazardous chemicals, mammalian cells, and tissues.
- May work overtime on occasion.
- Must be comfortable working in a production setting.
- Must be able to multitask and/or quickly adjust to shifting priorities.
- Articulate in the English language.
Preferred educational and experiential background:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Scientific field required
- 0-2 years lab experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ work experience in a scientific environment.
- Experience in a laboratory utilizing techniques in protein chemistry is preferred.
- Basic familiarity utilizing a centrifuge, pH meter, spectrophotometer and/or electrophoresis required
