Role Summary:
Boston Energy Trading and Marketing is looking for a Generation Dispatcher to assist in managing real-time operations of BETM’s generation assets and execute real-time dispatching strategies to optimize BETM’s real-time energy positions.
Reports to: Manager, Real Time Operations
Responsibilities:
Coordinate unit availability, outage schedules, unit startup and shutdown times, and communicate all necessary information to plant personnel, ISOs, and day-ahead traders
Take or direct timely and appropriate real-time actions in accordance with ISO procedures
Actively communicate with Asset Management group to maximize value and minimize risk for energy management clients
Maintain thorough understating of ISO tariffs, manuals, policies and procedures governing generator dispatch
Comply with applicable NERC Reliability Standards
Monitor and analyze available market information to identify dispatching opportunities
Analyze and evaluate energy transactions to ensure that all relevant aspects including energy price, transmission, counter party, and contractual terms are compliant with BETM’s Risk Management Policy
Complete and maintain necessary PJM Generation Operator certification and continuing education requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, or other relevant degree/experience
At least 1 year of real-time generation dispatching experience
Potential to hire candidate with limited experience as an entry level dispatcher
Competence with mathematics and technical concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to take appropriate action within time constraints
Proficient with Microsoft Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team
Generation Dispatchers must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule as part of a 24 hour, 7 days a week operation
