Job Description
The successful candidate will optimize communication, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and swallowing skills of residents by providing, directing, and/or overseeing a strong Speech Language Pathology therapy program.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Building a program to prevent, assess, evaluate, diagnose, and treat any disorders that affect speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing in adults
- Providing training and education to residents and their loved ones on the programs
- Providing quality patient care, including screening and evaluation of patients, development of initial and ongoing treatment plans, discharge planning, and case management responsibilities
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must hold an appropriate professional license in New York State in good standing. Additionally, they must adhere to all state and federal regulations regarding SLP therapy and have experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Nursing Home setting.
Applicants must possess a strong background in Speech Language Pathology, with a focus on optimizing communication, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and swallowing skills in adults. They must also be dedicated to providing extraordinary, clinically sound, and compassionate care.
A willingness to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and a genuine interest in helping ill, injured, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes challenging residents are essential qualities for this role.
Strong communication, customer service, and organization skills are also required, as is the ability to work well under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations.
