Health Science Teacher – Bettendorf High School
Bettendorf High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health Science Teacher to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. We are looking for a candidate with real-world healthcare experience who is passionate about sharing their expertise and preparing students for careers in the medical field. Bettendorf High School has a highly successful CNA program, and we are committed to providing students with top-tier health science education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging coursework in health science, medical terminology, anatomy & ,
- Prepare students for certifications such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and other healthcare pathways; BLS CPR and First Aid
- Provide hands-on learning experiences, including lab-based instruction, clinical partnerships, and real-world simulations
- Collaborate with local healthcare providers, technical schools, and industry professionals to enhance student learning opportunities
- Support student participation in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) or other career-based extracurriculars
- Ensure compliance with state curriculum standards and healthcare regulations
Qualifications & Endorsements:
Candidates must meet Iowa teaching licensure requirements. The following endorsements are preferred (but not required—alternative certification pathways are available):
- Health Science (CTE) (171)
Alternatively, individuals with healthcare industry experience (such as RNs, paramedics, medical technologists, or other healthcare professionals) who are interested in transitioning to education are encouraged to apply. Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Background in nursing, allied health, emergency medicine, or other healthcare professions
- Master’s degree preferred, but not required
- Experience in clinical training, patient care, or healthcare education
- Ability to teach hands-on, career-focused coursework
- Knowledge of medical technology, health science curriculum, and industry standards
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
- Commitment to student success, career readiness, and mentorship
