Job Summary
Better Being is looking for an HRIS Engineer to be responsible for the configuration, development and administration on Workday. The HRIS Engineer will report to the Sr. Director of PeopleOps.
Essential Functions
- Manage the full HRIS infrastructure, including servers, databases, cloud environments, and third-party integrations
- Spearhead the implementation of new HRIS modules, functionalities, and integrations to meet evolving business needs
- Develop and maintain integrations between the HRIS and other critical HR, payroll, and business systems using APIs, middleware, and custom coding
- Perform advanced HRIS configurations, customizations, and test automation to enhance user experiences and streamline workflows
- Analyze HRIS data to generate insightful reports and dashboards that support strategic HR decision-making
- Provide technical expertise, training, and user support to HRIS end-users across the organization
- Ensure robust HRIS security, access controls, disaster recovery, and data protection measures are in place
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, IT, and business leaders to align the HRIS roadmap with organizational goals

- System Security: Implement and monitor security measures to protect sensitive employee data, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Change Management: Lead change management initiatives related to HRIS updates or process changes, ensuring smooth transitions for all stakeholders.
- System Scalability: Evaluate and recommend scalable solutions to accommodate company growth and evolving HR needs.
- User Feedback: Collect and analyze user feedback to improve system usability and address pain points proactively.
- Data Migration: Manage data migration efforts during system implementations or transitions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Industry Trends: Stay updated on HR technology trends and innovations, recommending tools or features that enhance system capabilities.
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly review system performance metrics, identifying and addressing any lags or inefficiencies.
- Audit Support: Collaborate with compliance and audit teams to provide system reports and documentation during internal or external audits.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
- 5 years of progressive experience as an HRIS Engineer, HR Systems Analyst, or similar technical HR role
- Proficient in HRIS software development, including programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, SQL), databases, web technologies, and API integrations
- Comprehensive understanding of HR business processes, data structures, and reporting requirements
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with Agile/DevOps methodologies, project management, and process improvement initiatives
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in human resources management, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- Certification in leading HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, Oracle HCM, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP)
- Knowledge of HR compliance regulations, data privacy laws, and cybersecurity best practices
- Experience leading large-scale HRIS implementation or transformation projects
