About the Role
The Director of Medical/Surgical is responsible for leading and managing the overall operations of the Med/Surg unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This position oversees all clinical and administrative functions, including staffing, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives. The Director collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes, optimize workflows, and maintain adherence to hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Med/Surg unit, ensuring operational efficiency and quality patient care.
- Oversee staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation to maintain an optimal care environment.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation requirements.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize workflows.
- Mentor and support nursing staff, fostering professional growth and development.
- Analyze data and implement evidence-based practices to improve patient safety and satisfaction.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or a related field.
- Progressive leadership experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
- Current RN licensure in North Carolina or a valid multistate RN license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
