Director of Acute Care Services

Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
Type: Full-Time, In-Person
Salary Range: $120,000 - $135,000 annually
Bonuses: Up to $30,000 signing bonus and $10,000 relocation assistance
Travel: Not required
Role Overview
As the Director of Acute Care Services, you will oversee the ICU/PCU, Medical/Surgical, and Rehab Nursing Units. You’ll ensure clinical excellence, financial efficiency, and adherence to safety and quality standards. This role involves a dynamic mix of leadership, mentorship, and hands-on engagement with clinical and administrative teams.
You will work closely with the Leadership Council to align the hospital’s operational goals with patient care priorities. Your presence on both day and night shifts will foster collaboration, problem-solving, and high standards of care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Oversee education, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff; assist in recruitment and annual reviews.
- Clinical Oversight: Ensure proper staffing, maintain productivity standards, and provide support during peak staffing needs.
- Quality Improvement: Implement safety standards, audit processes, and lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Strategic Collaboration: Communicate regularly with senior leadership to align goals and address challenges.
- Budget Management: Ensure effective resource allocation while managing unit budgets.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (RN) required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, or Leadership/Management preferred.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and ONS within three months of hire.
- Experience:
- 5 years as an Acute Care Clinical Leader.
- 2 years as a bedside RN in ICU or Med/Surg.
- Proven success in project management, process improvement, and physician collaboration.
- Union experience required.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Unit Level Director.
- Certification in a specialty area.
- Track record of success with onboarding new graduate RNs and staff development.
