Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated In Home Caregiver to provide personalized care and support to individuals in their own homes. The ideal candidate will have experience in various healthcare settings, including outpatient, inpatient, and emergency medicine, and will be skilled in working with diverse populations, particularly geriatrics. This role is essential in ensuring the well-being and comfort of our clients, allowing them to maintain their independence while receiving the care they need.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' quality of life.
- Monitor clients' health status and report any changes or concerns to family members or healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans.
- Assist with mobility and transportation needs for medical appointments or social activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams, including outpatient services, medical-surgical units, and emergency medicine providers, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records of client progress.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a caregiver or in a similar role within healthcare settings such as a Level II Trauma Center or teaching hospital.
- Knowledge of geriatric care practices and the ability to work effectively with elderly clients.
- Familiarity with hospital medicine practices and outpatient care protocols is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with caregiving, including lifting and assisting clients as needed.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is a plus; additional training in emergency medicine is advantageous.
- A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others maintain their independence at home.
