The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) PRN administers physical therapy to patients in accordance with physician orders and plan of care under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist (PT).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides physical therapy under the supervision and delegation of a Physical Therapist (PT) in accordance with the patient’s plan of care
- Prepares timely documentation of patient/treatment activities and progress toward established goals per Allegiant Home Care policies
- Understands and adheres to established Allegiant Home Care policies and procedures
- Participates with all other health care personnel in patient care planning
- Consults with Director of Nursing (DON) and/or Physical Therapist (PT) regarding change in treatment and patient’s condition
- Instructs and educates patients and family members on in-home programs and activities of daily living
- Participates in in-service programs and presents in-service programs as assigned
- Participates in QAPI activities as assigned
- Attends all Case Conferences, as scheduled
- At all times, represent Allegiant Home Care professionally to clients, patients, and the community
- Maintain the confidentiality of patients and families within Allegiant Home Care as per government mandates
- Use resources in a fiscally responsible manner
- Promote Allegiant Home Care through participation in community and professional organizations
- Improve own professional knowledge and skill level
- Additional duties, as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Florida Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) License
- Graduated from a physical therapist assistant curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association; or if educated outside the United States or trained in the United States military, graduated from an education program determined to be substantially equivalent to physical therapist assistant entry level education in the United States by a credentials evaluation organization approved by the American Physical Therapy Association or identified at 8 CFR 212.15(e); and (ii) Passed a national examination for physical therapist assistants.
- 1 - 3 years of experience, preferred
- Restorative care experience preferred
- Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and Automobile Insurance
- Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule
- Current CPR certification
- For Medicare reimbursement, additional educational requirements in Addendum A must be met to provide services under a Medicare home health benefit

- Must be able to interact successfully with patients, families, and other agencies to present a positive and professional image
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and effectively handle the emotional stress of the workload
- Ability to adapt to patient status and needs as directed
- Ability to accommodate schedule changes daily due to staffing, patient condition, needs, and new patients
- Solid Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Medical Clearance
- Current TB testing and immunizations/declination for Hepatitis B and Flu
