Better Morning emerged as an outpatient behavioral health practice in Ashburn, VA in the year of 2014.
In addition to providing counseling from the Ashburn office, Better Morning started off as a certified provider for intensive in home and community-based services (IHCBS), for at risk youth in District of Columbia.
In August of 2017, Better Morning was certified as a Core service agency (CSA) by DC Department of Behavioral Health. Better morning founder’s passion for at risk youth and their family were the motivation to keep expanding the evidenced based programs to meet the need of the underserved population.
Job Description
We are currently seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to youth with behavioral health challenges. As a Peer Support Specialists work as a member of the FEP or TYA team, advocating and working with your assigned clients. Your experience and expertise will help empower individuals on their journey to recovery and wellness.
Responsibilities
- Provide peer support services to individuals with behavioral health challenges
- Utilize your personal experience with recovery to inspire hope and promote self-determination
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans
- Assist individuals in identifying and accessing community resources and support services
- Facilitate peer-led groups and workshops focused on various topics related to mental health and recovery
- Serve as a mentor and role model, offering guidance and support based on your own experiences
- Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with behavioral health challenges
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or Peer Recovery Support Specialist
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health systems and resources
- Experience in social work, crisis intervention, or related field
- Should have experience working with youth with psychoses?
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques
- Understanding of addiction counseling principles
- Ability to provide mentoring and support to individuals with mental health challenges
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage crisis situations
