We are seeking a Site Supervisor who will lead and coordinate daily operations at your forest location, ensuring a seamless and meaningful experience for visitors while maintaining the site’s safety and ecological integrity. Reporting to and working directly with the Area Manager, you will oversee customer visits and memorial services, coordinate site maintenance and safety protocols while providing compassionate support to grieving families, visitors, and the community.
We are looking for a hands-on, flexible leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, has a deep love for nature, and is passionate about creating meaningful, empathetic experiences. Experience in the death care, funeral, or cemetery profession is beneficial but not required.
Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations
- Lead and coordinate daily operations to create a seamless and memorable experience for visitors, including tours, customer visits, memorial services, and on-site events.
- Ensure trails, facilities, and grounds are maintained in excellent condition.
- Schedule and oversee staff, volunteers, and contractors to ensure proper site coverage.
- Maintain flexibility with scheduling, including required availability on weekends, we operate Thursday through Mondays.
Community Experience & Memorial Facilitation
- Welcome visitors, guiding them through the forest while sharing the company’s mission, values and details of our products and services.
- Facilitate memorial services with professionalism, sensitivity, and compassion, ensuring families have a meaningful experience.
- Handle cremated remains of both humans and pets in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships with local death care providers, funeral homes, and community organizations to expand awareness and visibility of the forest.
Leadership & Staff Development
- Assist and partner with leadership in recruiting, training, and scheduling seasonal staff, volunteers, and caretakers.
- Provide day to day direction, coaching and feedback to ensure high-quality service and a collaborative team environment.
Site Maintenance & Safety
- Always uphold Safety and Health processes as established in our Safety Handbook.
- Monitor forest health, manage tree care, and control invasive species.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of all visitor areas, including restrooms and parking areas.
- Identify and address any safety concerns to maintain a secure environment for visitors and staff.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of daily operations, memorial services, and visitor interactions.
- Utilize technical systems (CRM, internal tools, Google Workspace, etc.) to track and document activities and key metrics.
- Support procurement and inventory of site supplies and memorial items.
Other
- Collaborate with central teams to enhance visitor and employee experiences.
- Lead initiatives that improve operational success and community engagement.
- Take on additional site management responsibilities as needed to support business growth.
- Occasional travel (approximately 5%) may be required to support onsite activities and attend meetings at other locations.
QualificationsEmpathy, Leadership & Customer Engagement
- Strong ability to comfort grieving families with sensitivity and understanding.
- Exceptional interpersonal and public-speaking skills to engage visitors and lead tours.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions from May through October.
Operational & Leadership Expertise
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Experience overseeing daily operations, including logistics, scheduling, and problem-solving.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently while aligning with organizational goals.
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers and fostering a positive team culture.
Technical Proficiency & Physical Requirements
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, and other CRM software.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and lifting up to 45 pounds.
- First Aid/CPR certification (required).
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to take the free ROHVA course and drive guests in an off-road vehicle.
- California applicants: Must qualify for and obtain a Cremated Remains Disposer (CRD) license (application fee reimbursed and facilitated by Better Place Forests).
- Passion for nature and conservation, with the ability to work outdoors in remote areas and various weather conditions, using the appropriate gear.
