Bus Driver
Department : Service Delivery
Reports to : Social Service Coordinator / Regional Associate Director, PA
Job Summary :
Better Tomorrows at Mallard Run is seeking a reliable and compassionate Bus Driver to provide safe and comfortable transportation for our senior residents to and from weekly trips, outings, and special events. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, provide excellent customer service, and foster a friendly, caring atmosphere for our residents.
Key Responsibilities :
Safely operate a community bus or shuttle to transport senior residents to scheduled trips, including shopping, dining, cultural outings, and other community events.
Assist residents with boarding and exiting the vehicle, ensuring safety at all times.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is clean, fueled, and in good working order.
Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and facility transportation policies.
Provide courteous and friendly service, helping to create an enjoyable experience for residents.
Communicate trip details, schedules, and any changes to the Social Service Coordinator and residents.
Assist in coordinating wheelchair accessibility and securing any mobility devices if needed.
Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and any incidents.
Be prepared to handle minor emergencies or issues during transport, following facility protocols.
Qualifications :
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement (if required by vehicle size / state laws).
Clean driving record.
Previous experience driving seniors or working in a senior living community preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to assist residents with mobility challenges in a safe and respectful manner.
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
CPR / First Aid certification (preferred but not required).
Working Conditions :
Primarily operates a bus or shuttle.
May require occasional lifting (assisting with walkers, small packages, or groceries for residents).
Flexible schedule required to accommodate trip schedules, typically weekdays but may include occasional weekends.
