Position Overview

Better View Landscapes is seeking a talented and motivated Residential Landscape Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a client-focused environment, enjoys designing functional and aesthetically pleasing landscapes, and is skilled in managing projects from concept to completion.

As a Landscape Designer, you will work directly with clients to develop customized landscape solutions tailored to the New England environment. You will use your expertise in plant knowledge, hardscape materials, and design software to create high-quality, sustainable outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and dedicated to delivering outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Consultations: Meet with potential clients to understand their vision, assess site conditions, and develop creative, functional design concepts.
  • Landscape Design & Planning: Create detailed designs that balance client needs, aesthetics, and environmental sustainability, including both hardscape and softscape elements.
  • Project Management: Work closely with the production team to ensure seamless execution of designs, overseeing projects from initial planning to completion.
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular updates with clients and team members to keep projects on track, address any concerns, and adjust designs as needed.
  • Design Software: Utilize CAD, SketchUp, Lumion, or similar software to produce accurate and visually compelling landscape plans.
  • Plant & Hardscape Expertise: Apply a strong understanding of plant species, hardscape materials, and construction techniques suited for New England’s climate.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Modify designs based on site conditions and collaborate with production teams to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Estimating & Budgeting: Develop cost estimates for projects to ensure designs align with client budgets and company profitability goals.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
  • Industry Engagement: Attend landscape industry events and trade shows to stay up to date on new technology, plant varieties, and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven sales ability with experience producing profitable and high-quality landscape projects.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with a client-focused mindset.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, offering creative and functional solutions.
  • Experience with CAD software and other design tools.
  • Extensive plant knowledge and familiarity with hardscape materials.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the production team.
  • Adaptability to adjust designs based on client feedback or site conditions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Design (preferred).
  • Site and project layout experience with strong attention to detail.
  • Comprehensive landscape construction knowledge and understanding of installation processes.
  • Experience estimating landscape projects and preparing proposals.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 40 per week

  • Associate (Required)

Experience:

  • Landscape design: 3 years (Required)
  • CAD: 1 year (Required)
  • Sales: 1 year (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Hadley, MA 01035: Relocate before starting work (Required)

Salary : $60,000 - $90,000
